Silicone Body Cups
Silicone massage cupping is inexpensive and very convenient. It is based on the ancient Chinese tradition of suction cupping which used heat to create the vacuum. However the vacuum with silicon massage cups is created by squeezing the cup to expel air in order to create the vacuum.
By squeezing the silicone cup, you expel some of the air inside. Upon loosening your grip on the cup, a powerful vacuum is created as the cup tries to draw the missing air back in. When placed against the skin, the suction draws the flesh upwards, resulting in a negative pressure massage. Cups can be moved across wet skin, or simply left on the skin surface.
Silicon cups come in four sizes. There are two sizes of facial cup and two sizes of body cup.
There are two body caps. The regular cup is for all round use. It is 2.25 inches tall with an inner diameter of 1.3 inches.
The large body cup is used for broad areas such as the back or thighs. It is 3 inches tall with an inner diameter of 2 inches.
Safety And Maintenance
As with all massage do not use cups on pimples, wounds, sunburn, or broken skin inflammed areas. The skin may become red if the cup remains on the one area for too long. This redness is only temporary. It is good to test for reddening on a small inconspicuous area before undertaking longer sessions.
Cups can be washed with soap and water. Avoid the use of chemicals or solvents.
Directions For Use
Wash the skin before cupping.
Squeeze the cup to expel air then press the cup against the skin. Release your grip and the skin will be drawn into the cup.
If you’re a beginner it is a good idea to test on a small area for skin reddening.
The cup can be either left in place or moved across the skin (called gliding)
A dry or wet cup can be applied to one spot at a time.Experiment to see which you prefer. If you leave the cup in the one spot for too long be aware of the possibility of a pronounced red spot. This red spot is called a “cup kiss.” You will want to avoid creating a cup kiss on your face.
If you want to glide massage with a cup you’ll need to lubricate the skin to prevent undue friction and irritation. For this you can use massage oil, skin lotion/creme or cleanser. You can even do glide cupping in the shower. You may have a favourite skin product that you would like to use.
